Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to its source; investigators are not yet aware of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.
City officials announced they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
An important representative stated the vandalism left him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in 2020.
