Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Justice Moraes said the decision to arrest the 70-year-old politician was a safety action after "new facts" came to light.

This included seeking to disable his electronic bracelet and a call for a public vigil that could facilitate a potential flight.

Court Filing Details Escape Risks

In a document approving the detention, the judge said intelligence from the unit overseeing the former president's confinement suggested the ex-president's aim to disable the electronic ankle bracelet to secure accomplishment in his getaway".

This, it said, would be "facilitated by the chaos caused by the protest called by his child.

His child, Flávio, who serves as a senator, called for a gathering of his supporters near Bolsonaro's home to take place on Saturday evening.

The senator wrote on online platforms on the previous day: "Are you going to fight for your homeland, or watch it all from your mobile device there on your settee? I urge you to battle with us."

He said the vigil would be so followers could "pray for his well-being and for the reestablishment of democratic governance in our land."

Foreign Shelter Risks

Part of the magistrate's decision was the potential of Bolsonaro's move to embassies near the dwelling, considering that the probes revealed a record of planning to seek refuge through a diplomatic representation", a statement said.

The legal document underscores that the US embassy in the federal district, Brasilia, is situated around approximately 13 kilometers from the former president's residence.

Worldwide Consequences

His judicial problems have provoked anger from fellow populist conservative US President Donald Trump, leading him to enact a half-rate duty on imports of Brazilian goods.

He is being kept in a national police facility in Brasilia and will undergo a imprisonment assessment on the following day.

Recent Legal Requests

It was only on Friday that the ex-leader's attorneys asked the Top Court to permit him to fulfill his full incarceration period under home confinement, with tracking devices.

They also requested that Bolsonaro be authorized to exit his dwelling for healthcare, saying he needed frequent medical attention for respiratory ailments and other ailments.

Details of Guilty Verdict

He was convicted of orchestrating a scheme aimed at keeping him in power after he lost the 2022 election to his political opponent, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Top judicial officials said that he had knowledge of a scheme which included plans to murder the current president and his running partner, his vice-presidential candidate, and to arrest and execute Justice Moraes - the High Court judge who has been presiding over Bolsonaro's trial.

The plot was prevented because it failed to get the backing of the military leaders. His successor was took office without problem on January 1st, 2023.

But a following week, on the eighth of January, numerous his followers stormed and vandalised official structures in the national capital, Brasília.

The police stepped in and around approximately 1,500 persons were taken into custody.

The magistrates found that the demonstrators had been incited by Bolsonaro whose scheme, they said, was for the country's army to step in, bring back stability and reinstate his authority.

At the moment, his attorneys called the 27 years and three months sentence unreasonably severe".

He was also prohibited from seeking elected position until twenty-sixty - eight years later after the conclusion of his imprisonment.
